SmartHomes

In 2005, Imagine! launched one of its most ambitious projects ever - the development of two SmartHomes in Boulder County.

Imagine!’s SmartHomes incorporate a variety of cutting edge technologies designed to enhance the quality of life for residents, augment the effectiveness of staff as caregivers, and provide cost and energy savings for Imagine!.

In addition, the SmartHomes are serving as living laboratories to design and test technologies that may then be moved out to individual or family homes, so that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities may remain in more independent and natural settings versus more costly and segregated settings.

As the first such homes in the nation, Imagine!’s SmartHomes offer a model for the future of care for people with cognitive disabilities and other related conditions.

Within and without the SmartHomes, Imagine! remains a leader in exploring how technology can increase opportunities for meaningful community participation among the population we serve.
