School Age Services

Imagine!'s School Age Services provide licensed childcare activities for students ages 7-18. Whether it's our After School Program, Summer Camp, and School Closure Day activities, each participant can engage in the highest quality therapeutic recreation that is engaging, educational, and fun.

After School Program

The final bell rings but the day is far from over - you're still at work and your child is looking for something fun to do. Cue Imagine!'s After School Program – our qualified instructors and therapeutic specialists pick up your loved one from school and the fun begins!

 

We offer a wide range of therapeutic activities and lesson plans to engage every participant in learning, growing, gaining skills, and making new friends. Our community-based program offers bowling, swimming, games at the park, arts and crafts, and more!

 

Hours of Operation: whenever your loved one gets out of school – 6:00 p.m.

18-21 and currently enrolled in a transitional school program? We have options for you, too! Contact us for more details.

Summer Camp

School's out! Spend the summer with qualified therapeutic instructors engaging in activities such as: horseback riding, water parks, amusement parks, fishing, hiking, gardening, sports, and more.

 

Imagine!'s Summer Camp understands the importance of creating meaningful and community-based experiences for your child with an intellectual and developmental disability.

 

Our experienced therapeutic instructors assist each participant in achieving their full potential during exciting adventures!

 

Drop-off 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Pick-up 4:30 - 5:00 p.m.

School Closure Days

Holiday break or in-school conferences? No need to take off from work, Imagine! is here to help! When school shuts down for a holiday or spring break, Imagine! stays busy with School Closure Days! Based on school district calendars for Boulder Valley, Imagine! offers an eight hour day to students ages 7-21. Ice skating, arts and crafts, bowling, movement and dance, the aquarium... you name it!

 

These fun-packed days will engage your child in meaningful and exciting activities to foster growth and independence. Safe transportation, small ratios, weather appropriate activities, and updated behavior plans ensure a successful day for all.

 

Our Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists organize quality lesson plans and schedule outings at accessible locations all across the Boulder and Denver region.

Pick-up 4:30 - 5:00

Skill Acquisition: learn to be comfortable in water; practice swim strokes.

 

Social Skills: learn appropriate behavior in locker room and around pool; maintain personal boundaries; taking turns at slides and diving boards.

 

Motor Skills: gross motor; range of motion; endurance; flexibility; water safety.

SWIMMING

Skill Acquisition: voice projection; memorize lines; learn stage directions.

 

Social Skills: self-expression on stage; engage with peers during rehearsal; engage in dialogue on stage; make choices about character/costume.

 

Motor Skills: building props and set design; dancing and moving on stage; using/handling props.

PERMORMING ARTS

Skill Acquisition: learn rules to a variety of games and sports; counting/score keeping; learn techniques and strategies with variety of sports.

Social Skills: take turns; teamwork; sportsmanship; social-emotional skills with winning and losing.

​

Motor Skills: hand-eye coordination; handling sports equipment; running and agility.

SPORTS AND GAMES

ARTS AND CRAFTS

Skill Acquisition: learn new art techniques/styles; listen to and follow directions; color inside the lines; drawing.

Social Skills: practice positive peer interactions; share materials; present completed artwork to others; self-expression.

​

Motor Skills: fine motor skills using scissors, markers, ruler, glue, and pencils; hand-eye coordination.

MOVEMENT

Skill Acquisition: learn new movements and dance styles.

Social Skills: social interaction during warm up games; social boundary awareness; self-expression.

​

Motor Skills: gross motor through dancing, range of motion, and flexibility; footwork coordination.

COMMUNITY EXPLORATION

Skill Acquisition: learn new skills related to accessing their community; money management; learn how to use community resources.

​

Social Skills: practice positive behavior in the community; social interaction with community members.

​

Motor Skills: range of motion of walking/interacting in a variety of environments.
