Where Your Donation Goes

Today we partnered with Heather Sabo, the Development Coordinator for the Imagine! Foundation, to help explain how your donations can help Imagine! and the people we serve thrive. Heather has been with the Imagine! Foundation for 15 years now and is an expert on all things fundraising, event planning, and outreach.


The Imagine! Foundation, which was founded in 2000, exists to support Imagine! programs and services. In order to determine which areas are in need of the most help, Imagine! tells the Imagine! Foundation what the organization’s most pressing and ongoing needs are, and the Imagine! Foundation does everything they can to support those needs - many of which would be unmet otherwise.

History of the Imagine! Foundation

In the beginning, the Imagine! Foundation was started to raise funds to purchase and maintain five residential sites and later to build two SmartHomes for clients who need 24/7 care. After funding the homes and with the development of the innovative Charles Family SmartHome and the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome, the Imagine! Foundation expanded to provide funds for many other programs and essential services at Imagine!.

Where Does Your Money Go?

When you donate through our website, which can be found here: https://imaginecolorado.org/donate, your money goes to support all of Imagine!’s services including Early Intervention, After School and Summer Camp programs, Supported Employment, and Residential Services, as well as emerging technologies that increase independence and quality of life.  Essentially, we raise funds to fill in the many gaps in funding to help provide a plethora of much needed services that are not funded through state and Medicaid waivers.  

Upcoming Fundraising Events

The Imagine! Foundation has many events throughout the year that raise money for Imagine! programs and services, but two in particular are coming up soon! On December 8th, we will be participating in Colorado Gives Day, which allows Imagine! to share in a $1 million incentive fund for local non-profits. You can schedule your donation today, by going to this link: https://www.coloradogives.org/Imagine/overview.  On January 30, 2021, we will host the 20th annual Imagine! Celebration, which will be virtual this year due to the pandemic. It will feature the same familiar faces, and many who have appeared in previous events, but will allow you to participate from the comfort and safety of your own home. We will have a live and silent auction featuring many of our favorite business and restaurants, and some fun experiences and surprises. It will certainly be new and exciting, so stay tuned so you don’t miss an opportunity to participate! We also have other smaller giving campaigns throughout the year and every dollar raised really makes a difference in the lives of our clients.

After the money is raised, we transfer all donations made on a quarterly basis directly to Imagine!, which then uses the funds to support Imagine! program areas. These donations mean a lot to us and to the people served by Imagine!. So thank you for helping to create a world of opportunity for all abilities.
