Imagine! Early Intervention is partnering with CU Boulder’s Department of Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences and Department of Psychology and Neuroscience in a proposed outreach project, “Empowering parents to support their child’s communication development.” This will involve weekly sessions to provide structured Caregiver Coaching sessions designed to support parents/caregivers of young children eligible for Early Intervention services due to delays/disabilities impacting early communication development. These sessions will occur in the evenings during Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 in an Imagine! facility (Coal Creek). Collaborators of the project include CU faculty, CU SLHS graduate students, speech-language pathologists who provide EI services, Early Intervention leadership at Imagine!, and families with young children who are members of the local community. The families chosen to participate will benefit from this program from the extra parent coaching regarding their child’s communication development. Families will also receive dinner and childcare, provided through the CU Outreach Project. Imagine! will benefit from the partnership in many ways, including possible future partnerships, name recognition, and continuing to create a world of opportunities for all abilities. The grant has been submitted and we are very excited and hopeful that we will get approval!
