Imagine! Early Intervention (EI) Update

Starting May 1 we will offer a new program for children who turn three during the summer months: Part C Extension. The purpose of this extended option is to continue Part C services through the summer to prevent lapses in therapy support. The end date is based on the start of the school district’s preschool services.
This policy allows EI services, in defined instances, to continue after a child’s third birthday until the beginning of the subsequent school year. During May and June, we will be covering both Intake and Evaluations for Boulder and Broomfield counties while the state prepares to take over both in July. Imagine! has decided not to apply for the Early Intervention Evaluation Request For Proposal (RFP).
Due to the significant changes in Early Intervention, we’ve recognized that we need additional staff to properly implement current EI services, add on Extended Part C this summer, and navigate the new way of EI evaluations.
We just learned about a great resource for families, Benefits in Action, a non-profit in Lakewood that serves all of Colorado. The Benefits in Action team helps people to apply for different grants and even to Medicaid. The team is working to increase access to medical resources. For instance, if a family doesn’t qualify for Medicaid, the team can help them apply for other insurances and health care benefits such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Another resource we recently discovered helps support families looking for childcare in Broomfield. Any family can search for available Broomfield County licensed care for all age groups, including infant, toddler, and preschool aged children using this online website. Licensed child care providers within Broomfield have published their profiles with robust program information, including available spots for their various age groups.
