Celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month

To celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we sat down with some folks in Imagine! Employment Services and asked them about their work. Today we are joined by Longmont Florist and Rae Clites, an Imagine! Employment Services client who works at Longmont Florist.
Longmont Florist is a family-owned flower shop in Longmont, CO that has been serving the area for over 50 years. When asked about what inspired them to work with Imagine! Employment Services, they said, “Our main inspiration is the fact that we have two family members with disabilities. We see how important it is for them to have a steady routine and an opportunity to accomplish jobs and tasks that the rest of us take for granted.”
Rae started working at Longmont Florist only a few months ago but has shown tremendous progress in her confidence and her accomplishments in her work. She completes a variety of tasks, from filling water tubes, cutting flower stems, building boxes, wiping windows clean, stapling Longmont florist cards to flower food. Rae says that she likes her job tasks and her coworkers. When we talked to her about it, she said working there “is fun.”
The folks at Longmont Florist also told us some of the highlights of partnering with Imagine! Employment Services. They said, “It helps instill in us compassion and understanding for people with disabilities and how they can contribute to our team in meaningful ways. Also, we can see how Rae has become more confident in her relationship with our team and in understanding and completing her tasks. Lastly, Rae completes tasks for us that, although can be tedious and repetitive, are important that they be done and she helps us complete those tasks!”
Rae has done so well at her job and we are so proud of all of her accomplishments. Thank you to Longmont Florist for partnering with us and for helping Rae learn and grow as a part of your business!
