Our final highlight for National Disability Employment Awareness Month is on Cooper Knight, who is currently in a mentorship with a film and editing producer named Johann Boss. He has been in this mentorship for about a month now and have done all of his projects remotely. We sat down with Cooper and asked him a few questions about his experience in this training.
What are your job duties?
My duties in this mentorship are to learn how to use the creative part of your brain to operate the high-tech toys of the film and TV industry.
How do you like working here?
I like working from home for Johann so much because there's always something new to learn from him, even if I understand part of what is expected.
What is your favorite part about the job?
My favorite part about the mentorship is just communication with Mr. Boss simply because we're both visual thinkers. Having so much in common with your manager is going to make life in the working world that much easier to handle.
How did you feel when you started your job?
I got super excited to start the mentorship because of all of the things I get to learn from my new manager.
Is there anything else you would like to share about your job?
See a goal, and fight the temptation not to achieve that goal. That's my advice and the number one takeaway from this mentorship.
