Imagine! Case Management Update

By Kristen Lundy

When I reflect back on 2021 in the Case Management department, I am in awe of the determination of this team through some of the greatest adversities that I have witnessed in my lifetime.

In March of 2021, our team suffered the loss of one of our clients in a tragic shooting in Boulder. This loss impacted the individuals we serve, staff, community partners, and quickly made national news. Through that event our grieving team asked, “How can we help?” and quickly jumped into action to support the community.

In April, our team prioritized vaccinating one thousand individuals in the IDD community in Boulder and Broomfield counties. The resulting clinics were designed specifically to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This required a significant amount of planning, spearheaded by our fearless leader Jenna Corder, striving to ensure that the clinics were as sensory friendly and accessible as possible. Once again, we got to see our Imagine! Care Coordination department come together to bring unwavering support to our community.

In October, Care Coordination held a provider fair in the midst of the pandemic that went off with perfect execution, due in large part once again to Jenna and the team of volunteers she assembled throughout Care Coordination.

Finally, last year was impacted by an Imagine!-wide staffing crisis that affected all aspects of the work that we do. The Case Management department not only supported each other throughout this crisis but many also supported group homes by taking time outside of their normal schedules to cover vital shifts.

Then, at the end of the year, the Marshall fire brought about unparalleled tragedy to our region, and left 10 individuals in services without homes, and many more displaced. The response from the Care Coordination team throughout this experience has been incredible to see. Again, our employees asked “How can I help?” The late Fred Rogers is famous for the following quote in regards to tragic events: “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” Here at Imagine!, I am proud to say that I don’t need to look very far.
