Today we congratulate Bren Lindemann, who has been nominated for an Alliance DSP/Job Coach of the Year Award. We don’t know if Bren will be selected for this award by Alliance, but we do know we are so lucky to have them as part of our team! Below is information from Bren’s nomination, demonstrating clearly why they were selected for this honor.

Bren serves as an assistive technology assistant within Imagine! services, where they demonstrate exceptional dedication to supporting children and adults in finding alternative solutions to enable their independence in class activities.

Bren consistently exceeds the expectations of their role by going above and beyond to ensure that the individuals they support have access to the adaptive equipment necessary for their success in class activities. Their commitment to facilitating a supportive and inclusive environment for those they work with is truly admirable.

Bren's unwavering passion for their work and their outstanding contributions make them an excellent candidate for the DSP/Job Coach of the year. Their impact extends beyond their job description, positively influencing the lives of those they serve.

Bren has been an invaluable member of the Imagine! team for 7 years. They initially joined as part of the School Age Summer Camp Program at 19 years old and have since made remarkable strides in their career. Bren's experience at Imagine! inspired them to redirect their academic pursuits from a science degree to Human Development and Family Studies due to their passion for the work they were doing at Imagine!

Throughout their time at Imagine! Bren has demonstrated exceptional growth, progressing from a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the children's program to supporting both children and adults. They have recently transitioned into the role of Assistive Technology Assistant, where they continue to excel. Bren finds great fulfillment in their work at Imagine! particularly in the meaningful interactions they have with individuals and their dedication to promoting independence through creative solutions.

Bren's respite experience has also been a huge instrumental in their professional development. They formed a special connection with one of the children in services, gaining valuable insights and skills in adaptive equipment. Bren's innovative approach allowed them to come up with a creative solution in supporting a child in a cooking class by inventing a 'chin chopper,' enabling the child, who has limited mobility, to participate independently in the cooking recipe. This device has been so beneficial for the child to be able to participate the staff in program now call it the 'Chopper 3,000'.

In addition, Bren has prepared clever low-tech solutions to enhance communication supports. One way they have done this is by creating a customized board mirroring the individual's communication device, incorporating real photos alongside icon symbols to familiarize the user with them.
