The mission of Imagine! is to create and offer innovative tools and supports that allow our consumers to live fulfilling lives of independence and quality. One way we do this is by providing assistive technology to consumers that helps to diminish or eliminate environmental barriers.

  SmartHome

In 2005, Imagine! launched one of its most ambitious projects ever - the development of two SmartHomes in Boulder County. The SmartHomes will incorporate cutting edge residential technologies to enhance the quality of life for clients, augment the effectiveness of staff as caregivers, and provide cost and energy savings for Imagine!.

The SmartHomes will provide permanent housing for individuals with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities. As the first such homes in the nation, the SmartHomes will serve as a model for the future of residential care for people with cognitive disabilities. In addition, creating this new way of providing residential services has enormous potential to impact groups of people with related concerns (dementia, autism, chronic mental illness, Alzheimer's) through partnerships with other agencies.

The SmartHomes will be the culmination of Imagine!'s years of research in the field of assistive technology, visits to demonstration sites in Oregon, Florida and Indiana, and extensive interface with the University of Colorado's Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities.
