Planning Ahead: The Transition Process

Transitions are natural events for all of us, and you will continue to support your child through many types of life transitions. When a toddler enrolled in the Early Intervention Colorado program approaches three years of age, several steps will be completed [or will occur] that will help create a smooth transition into other supportive services. These steps are what we mean when we refer to the transition process.

Your Imagine! service coordinator and other service providers will help you learn about available options when your child turns three. Some of those options might include:

  • School district preschool programs, which could include special education services or Colorado Preschool Program
  • Home and center-based child care centers
  • Community preschools and other programs
  • Faith-based preschools
  • Head Start
  • Library groups
  • Recreation programs
