EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST – LABOR SOURCE

GENERAL PURPOSE:  Labor Source provides innovative services to persons with developmental disabilities interested in enriching their lives through employment opportunities. An employment specialist works directly with consumers in the field providing support as a supervisor on a work crew or as a job coach for independent placements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide transportation services for consumers to and from work sites utilizing vehicles owned by Imagine!
• Ensure health and safety of consumers at assigned work sites and during community participation.
• Implement individualized service and support plans to maintain or improve work skills and/or behaviors.
• Complete documentation of services and supports provided to consumers per reporting requirements.
• Represent Labor Source at meetings for consumer, including annual IPs, IDTs, and HRC reviews, when needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability and willingness to learn how to engage in skilled interaction with people with challenging behaviors.
• Ability to maintain detailed records and reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to meet or exceed Imagine! driving standards.
• Ability to lift 50-75 pounds on a regular basis, and to work in a standing position for 3 – 4 hours each day.

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:

• Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and accomplished experience.
• Successful completion of the Labor Source Apprenticeship (mentor and training provided upon hire).
